Help Musicians UK ‘Do It Differently’ Fund Award

I’m very excited to have been selected as one of the recipients of the 2019 Help Musicians UK ‘Do It Differently’ Award.

The award will go towards funding my new EP ‘The Life That I Have’ which will be out later this year. It follows on from my last album ‘To The Islands’ and comes at what feels like a pivotal moment in my career, where artistically and creatively I’m ‘riding the crest of a high and beautiful wave’.

Huge love and thanks to Chris Sheehan, Sam Lee, Stuart Ongley, James Pegrum, Beth Morton and Rhia Parker for your support, it means the world.

Looking forward to sharing new music with you soon. Here’s to the next step!

All love

Live session with La Vitrola

On a stormy afternoon in West London back in March we shot some live performances with some Chilean pals ‘La Vitrola’ for their channel. x

Music Minds Matter!

Last year I was lucky enough to record a live track at Abbey Road Studioswith Karousel Music , YSJ Music Production and Monks Road Social in aid of Help Musicians UK #MusicMindsMatter campaign.

We recorded a version of ‘Different Paths’ together alongside a bunch of other great musicians and all the tracks will be gathered together on an album ‘Smoke Rainbows’ to be released on 17th May.

All proceeds go to #MusicMindsMatter – their around the clock support line and listening ear service they set up for musicians and folks working the music industry. Musicians raise money for everyone else, so myself, Zac, Chris and Dave wanted to show we’re there for our musical family.

The album is released next week during Mental Health Awareness Week, please support it! Order the album now on nice thick 180g vinyl or CD Digipack… it’s got a heat reactive thermochromic sleeve! Or download from itunes… Please share around to help the charity reach more people!

Just stumbled across this amazing cover of ‘Lydia’ the other day. MIND BLOWN. x

Record Store Day

It being Record Store Day tomorrow, I wanted to remind all you vinyl fans that the beautiful limited edition 12″ of my new album ‘To The Islands’ is available worldwide to get from my Bandcamp shop – and if you live in Kent from the Smugglers Record Shop.

Designed by Raimund Wong, the front cover is a hand screen printed optical illusion where the titles appear and disappear depending on the angle you hold it at. With die cuts on front/back, the records symbol of a dala horse can be blue or white depending on your choice of putting the 2-colour offset lithographic inner sleeve in. The whole package was hand finished, numbered and put together by me in my front room. Less than 100 left.

You can order the vinyl here:

Beautiful

Such an intense and beautiful vibe last night playing at the Omnibus Theatre supporting Firefly Burning. Matt and I went deep and got lost in the music. It felt like we created something that was more than the sum of it’s parts, and that was pretty special x

Video for Re: Her

Such a beautiful day shooting the video for ‘Re: Her’ with the amazing movement and focus of Zoë Solomons and the camera skills of Adam Lawson.

‘Re: Her’ is the last track on my recent album ‘To The Islands’ and this is the last of four videos that Adam and I, together with Adam Greves have made for it. All focus on the movement of bodies, and how we process emotion through them. It’s a tough old world out there and moving through every day, as beset we can. The filming of this video completes a journey that’s been years in the making. Can’t wait to share it with you ❤️Xx

Thank you Sheffield!

Last nights show at The Holt Cafe in Sheffield was as beautiful as I’ve ever played. To really play this music requires throwing caution to the wind, basically to say ‘fuck it’ and go so far down and into it that it becomes a pretty binary decision for the audience as to whether it’s for them. I’d like to think no one is left on the fence at the end of the night! Last night, we went deep and left everything on that little stage. This is what it’s all about. Huge thanks to Jez for so much love and all the hard work and effort to make last nights show happen. Scenes only exist because of the tireless energy and boundless enthusiasm of promoters like you! Huge love to everyone who came down and see you all out on the road soon!! X 📷 @beforebreakfastmusic

This Is Beautiful

Another masterclass from Mesadorm in staying 100% true, going all the way down, and bringing back the gold. Heart bracingly beautiful x x

Back to Abbey Road…

It was really great to record at Abbey Road Studio 2 today collaborating with the marvelous men of the Chaps Choir. We sung a little arrangement I made of a song ‘Air At The Top’ from my second album ‘Love of Too Much Living’. Something about everything that’s going on right now and how I’m feeling made me reconnect with this tune and it was a real tonic to play it again with the massed voices of the Chaps.

I’m proud to be part of the Music Venue Trust’s #fightbackthestudiosessions Campaign and can’t wait to show you the proper video. Big love to York St John University and Karousel Music for asking me to be involved.
