Holding Hands performed by the amazing Vancouver Youth Choir arranged by Thomas Dalton.
I wrote ‘Holding Hands’ at a low point in my life nearly ten years ago. I was heartbroken and despondent and I wrote it for the person I hoped to meet. And it worked.
I released it as the first single from my third album ‘To The Islands’ on 17 October 2017 and it has changed my life. By the time the album came out twelve months later, I had meet my wife and the song has taken on a life of its own in the years to follow.
People have got married to it, some have tattoos, a number of beautiful and different covers have been made and I have received many moving messages. If people have heard about me and my music at all, most of the time it is because of Holding Hands.
This version by the Vancouver Youth Choir hit me like a ton of bricks, not just how beautifully it is arranged and sung, but to see so many young musicians singing my song. It is special.
I am so grateful to have written a song that now belongs to so many.
Love is everything and it finds way – don’t give up!
